President William Ruto makes a donation of over 280,000 euros to churches

By donating more than 280,000 euros to evangelical churches—officially from his personal funds—Kenyan President William Ruto has sparked controversy, suspected of engaging in dubious electoral tactics despite having condemned such "corruption" less than a year ago.

One of the fortunate recipients of these funds, the Jesus Winner Ministry, which emphasizes on its website that "generosity means giving more than what is required," accepted the contribution without hesitation.

However, less than a year after protests against tax increases and corruption—protests that were violently repressed—the president’s donations are being poorly received by part of public opinion.
